The Journey of a Creative Collaborator
Every creative adventure we take begins with a single idea.
Our ideas shape who we are as people, and the stories we want to share with the world. My journey is no different. What started out as a hobby in high school turned into a career all in just a few years, and I am personally grateful for every minute of it.
My first project was a movie trailer for a video production assignment in high school. Not only was it the worst thing I've ever made, but it sparked a passion and desire for creative storytelling. At first, I thought I wanted to be an art student, but I realized I was so much more than just an artist - I wanted to communicate ideas with the world.
I decided to take it a step further and get a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Video Production at Cornerstone University. There I was challenged creatively, emotionally, and spiritually. It has made me a polished cinematographer, editor, storyteller, and offered me the opportunity to work with a variety of workflows - large format all the way to DV tape.
I soon realized that I enjoy working with students in a classroom setting, so I furthered my education with a Master of Arts in Digital Media Communication at the University of Valley Forge, and pursued independently training on the art of digital photography, graphic design, and assistant editing.
I have a passion for mentoring, teaching, and also learning from others whom I admire. I specifically enjoy well-crafted dramatic live-action feature films, music videos with strong artistic merit, and experimental cinema. In the future, I hope to make the journey towards a Ph.D. conducting research in post-production and educating students in a formal higher education setting.
When I'm not sitting in my edit suite logging footage, filing paperwork, making sync maps, arranging sequences, color grading footage, editing photographs, or designing one of my digital creations, I like to spend some time listening to music and go for walks. These times are critical for me to decompress and let my mind wander with new and innovative ideas. This particularly comes in handy when stuck on an edit decision for a film.
